Rustins Water-Borne Ceramic GlazeRustins Ceramic Glaze is a one-part quick drying water-borne Glaze specifically formulated for ceramic restoration. Can be applied by brush or air-brush. Can be diluted up to 10% for air-brush application.
Water based, non hazardous, odorless and solvent free glaze. Will not crack, craze or yellow in time, stays completely clear.
Coating is usually touch dry within 30 minutes to 1 hour, depending on the ambient temperature. Articles may be re-coated after 1 -2 hours.
Coated articles can be handled 2 hours after the final coat but will take 10 days to fully harden if not stoved.
For extra hardness and water resistance the product may be stoved. The coated article should be left to stand for 60 minutes or more to allow the water to evaporate before stoving. Stove for 45 minutes at 100 deg C, allow to cool to ambient temperature before the next coat is applied.
Artists dry powder pigments can be mixed with Rustin's Acrylic Ceramic Glaze. Artists acrylic colours can also be used but it is recommended that a test for compatibility is carried out because of the differences between manufacturers formulations.
Rustin's Ceramic Glaze is compatible for use under some cellulose, acrylic, epoxy and oil based paints. Always test for compatibility first.
We don't sell the white version of this glaze as it tends to thicken after a few months storage. Instead we sell a concentrated white tinter which can be added to the clear glaze. Around 20% tinter will give a white glaze with extremely good covering power. |
