Bronze PowderUsed by restorers as a substitute for fired gilding.
Bronze powders are produced from pure copper, and from various copper/zinc alloys and from aluminium. By varying the copper and zinc content of the alloy, different shades of gold coloured powder can be produced.
Our bronze powder is of the finest grain size available. Although on large areas this powder will never match real "fired on" gold in reflectivity it is the nearest substitute available. When used for painting fine lines, banding and decoration it can be very difficult to see a difference from real gold.
This fine grade of powder is only available in one pale gold shade. Once mixed into a glaze the gold can be tinted to any gold shade using our SOLVENT DYES. Dry pigments or paints are not suitable for tinting bronze powders.
The glaze medium used can also have an effect on the quality of finish and degree of reflectivity achieved. Rustins type acid cured glazes give the least quality glaze, Chintex and Cold Cure Glaze give a much better finish. |
